Role Games return with a Trip to Ancient Athens. Choose your role, define the story! Role-playing games were introduced as a lesson in our school last year for the first time. Then our students traveled to the Land of Mythology in order to find the Golden Fleece. Along the way, they met mythical creatures, completed missions, sought the help of important persons, and finally, after a long journey, returned victoriously! This year the journey will be repeated, but this time our destination will be the Land of History and specifically the Golden Century and Classical Athens. There are students who will follow the whole course of an Athenian citizen: They will be trained by the secretary and the lead tribes, they will play games of the time, they will learn the fashion, habits and professions of the city, they will participate in the construction of the Parthenon, they will rhetoric in the ancient Agora of Athens and they will experience the outbreak of the Peloponnesian War. Once again they will meet familiar, historical figures offering, but also asking, for help. Our goal is to relive history, discovering our roots and finally ourselves.
The course is offered to the students of the 2nd and 3rd grade. They teach Dimitris Kakavoulas (educator-actor and founder of Scool) and our teacher Areti Thanou. Visiting Teachers-Trainers prepare us at different stages of our mission.
